Terms of use

Welcome to JetDex. These terms apply to the JetDex app and the jetdex.app website (together, "JetDex"). By using JetDex you agree to them, so please read them. If you don't agree, please don't use JetDex.
1. Who provides JetDex
JetDex is provided by Paolo Puglielli, an independent developer based in Milan, Italy. Contact: hello@jetdex.app.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 14 years old, or have permission from a parent or guardian, to use JetDex. You are responsible for your account and for keeping your sign-in secure.
3. What JetDex does, and what it doesn't
JetDex identifies aircraft using your phone's sensors and publicly broadcast flight data. Identifications, routes, aircraft details, positions and times are provided for fun and general information. They can be incomplete, delayed or wrong. Never use JetDex for navigation, aviation, safety, security or any other critical purpose.
4. Spot safely and legally
- Pay attention to your surroundings. Don't use JetDex while driving, cycling or anywhere it could put you or others at risk.
- Respect the law and private property. Don't trespass on airports, airfields or restricted areas, and follow local rules on photography.
- Never point lasers or bright lights at aircraft, and never interfere with aircraft or air traffic in any way.
- Respect other people's privacy when taking and sharing photos.
5. Fair play
Leaderboards, awards and games like Somebody loves me only work if everyone plays fair. Don't fake your location, tamper with the app or its data, automate catches, create multiple accounts to gain an advantage, or abuse invite links. We may remove scores, awards or accounts that break these rules.
6. Your content and behaviour
You are responsible for the display name, username, profile picture, messages and anything else you share on JetDex. Don't share anything illegal, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit, misleading, or that infringes someone else's rights, and don't impersonate others. Usernames are reserved on a first-come basis, but we may reclaim or change usernames that are offensive, misleading, impersonate a person or brand, or infringe trademarks.
You keep ownership of what you create. You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, display and share it within JetDex as needed to run the service (for example, showing your catches to your friends). This licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies others have already shared.
7. The waitlist
Joining the waitlist doesn't guarantee access by any date. Your position may change, for example when people you invite join, or if we remove fake or duplicate sign-ups. A reserved username is held for you when JetDex launches, subject to section 6. We'll only email you about JetDex, and you can unsubscribe at any time.
8. Our rights
JetDex, its name, logo, design, 3D models, artwork and software belong to us or our licensors. We give you a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial purposes. Don't copy, reverse engineer, resell or scrape JetDex, except where the law expressly allows it.
9. Third-party data and services
Flight data comes from third parties including adsb.lol (available under the Open Database Licence) and adsbdb. Sign-in, payments and app distribution are provided by Apple and Google under their own terms. We're not responsible for third-party services, but we choose them carefully.
10. Paid features
JetDex is free. If we offer optional paid features in the future, prices will be shown in the app before you buy, payments and refunds will be handled by Apple's App Store or Google Play under their terms, and subscriptions will renew until you cancel them in your store account settings.
11. Changes and availability
JetDex is a growing project. We may add, change or remove features, and the service may sometimes be unavailable. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll tell you in advance in the app or by email. If you keep using JetDex after a change takes effect, the new terms apply.
12. Ending things
You can stop using JetDex and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, and we'll tell you why unless the law or safety reasons prevent it.
13. Liability
We provide JetDex "as is" and do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or correct. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on flight information. Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or wilful misconduct, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law. If you are a consumer, you keep all the rights the law gives you.
14. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in the EU, you also benefit from the mandatory consumer protections of your country, and you can bring proceedings in the courts where you live. If something goes wrong, please write to us first; we'd much rather sort it out together.
